Get Babies and Childrens Mega Blocks and Legos Online

Updated on May 16, 2013

Lego's for my kids - always a HIT!

When my sons were growing up, some of their favorite toys were baby building blocks - especially Lego's. Thanks to the Internet, we can now find every Lego set available to mankind to buy online. When my now adult children were small, I remember my youngest son just waiting for all the newest Lego sets to come out - and I also remember spending alot of time sleuthing around the stores to find those new Lego sets for him to build (he built fast!)

Recently I just had the joy of being able to buy my 2 year old grandson his first set of baby building blocks, and keeping with the tradition, I started out with mega-blocks, A Lego variation.

Although available in some retail stores I found the best selection of baby building blocks and Lego sets online.

Legos and Mega Blocks - great toys for toddlers

My theory on toys? If you see your kids or grand-kids gravitate towards a certain type of toy, whether it be blocks, puzzles, or toys with buttons, you can just about bet that type of toy is something that will not only entertain them but also teach them because they are interested. A few months ago I noticed that my grandson liked to build things, liked putting things in containers and rearranging things. This reminded me of my sons when they were small and I figured he would like playing with Lego's as well.

So on instinct I splurged for his 2nd birthday and got him the 80 piece Mega Block set in a plastic storage bag (it has a zipper closure) The day of his party, after most of the people had gone home, I brought out the new blocks and he played a solid hour and a half with them! Now I don't know about you, but ANY toy that can keep a 2 year old interested for more than 15 minutes has a big thumbs up from me. He was so entertained that even after I put them away he still wanted to play with them (but hey, it WAS bedtime!)

So in short, the Mega Blocks were an immediate and instant hit.

Now grandma has something new to keep the little guy interested!!

Mega Blocks for baby and toddlers

Mega Blocks are just like Lego's but SUPER BIG. Big enough for little hands to grasp, stack, rearrange and build with. Similar to Lego's but just REALLY BIG (easy to find too) So big that it would be near to impossible for a baby or toddler to swallow too. I also figure that if one or two of them get chewed up by the dog I still have plenty to keep him happy. Like Lego's, there are also sets of Mega add-ons that can be purchased, like cute little containers and tables to build things on. As my grandson gets older I'm sure we will be adding on new building blocks to his collection and also buying him more age appropriate Lego's to play with.

I have always been a big fan of Lego sets - my sons took their Lego's to my Dr. appts., to our business, to grandmas house for overnighters - and even into the car on long trips (Lego's can be a BIG boredom buster for kids!)

I am looking forward to the day when I can purchase more baby building blocks for Zach and being able to buy his Lego sets online. it sure beats trying to find those special Lego sets in the store...and by the success of Zach's first building block set, I can now see that day will be coming!
