Barack Obama Acceptance Speech: A More Perfect Union

Updated on February 15, 2015

Barack Obama: A More Perfect Union Speech

Last night as I watched the thousands of cheering voters usher in our new President elect- Barack Obama, I couldn't help but feel immensely proud to be part of this great nation. Last nights election truly showed our true colors as Americans, and it wasn't the colors of race, it was the colors of A More Perfect Union. Barack Obama's acceptance speech hit the mark on so many points.

As I watched the nationalities of every race, color and creed usher in a new and historic moment, I was moved to believe that somehow last night The United States of America had grown up not only as a country, but as a people. To think that just 50 years ago, last night would have seemed an impossibility in America, and that we had somehow last night transcended a barrier that was not only overcome but was shattered - the racial divide.

I never thought I would see the day in American history where it was a possibility for a black man to be President, a woman to have been the the runner up and another woman to be the potential Vice president.

These are truly historic times we are living in...

America Needed This Victory

For those that voted for and are mourning over John McCain's loss, please don't be sad for long. In these turbulent times, Americans needed this victory - we needed the hope that comes along with change and the reality that in America dreams can become real and wounds can be healed.

Last nights historic event reminds us that America is alive and well, that the Democracy we all love and honor is working at it's fullest and finest: The voice of the American People has spoken loud and clear: Change is in the air, and whether we are ready or not, there is no turning back.

And as we move forward in this life changing moment: we need to continue to strive towards attaining that More Perfect Union so eloquently shared by Barack Obama many months ago in his famous speech: A More Perfect Union. In the pages of history to follow us, this stirring acceptance speech will surely be considered one of the most eloquent and moving speeches in American History.

Barack Obamas Speech: A More Perfect Union

A More Perfect Union Challenges Us To Be Better

Yes we will all still have our differences; that is what makes America truly great and special. Yes we will all not agree on the same issues, to do so would only make us puppets in a cloned world. But puppets we are not, every single one of us has a different fingerprint to contribute on this earth, and a purpose for being here.

The greatest purpose of our short stay here is to love one another. In a world filled with too much hatred and ambition, a More Perfect Union challenges us to be better people, to be better team players not based on race, religion or ideas but rather based on love and the ideal that here in America we can be better; we can shatter racial divides; we can overcome adversity; we can love one another unconditionally and most importantly, together we can love one another back to health.

Last night I saw it happen, and I believe that we can come out of the mire of unsure times and the pit of financial despair to not only show that it's possible but that WE CAN! Obama's acceptance speech gives us hope....and a can do attitude.

A More Perfect Union? I believe it has already begun.
