Clothes for Big Dogs - "Plus Sizes"

Trying to find big or large dog pet clothes for that special dog in your life? Feeling left out because it just seems like all the good stuff is made for that little dog species? Well as the owner of two big dogs, I can tell you don't despair...there are actually manufacturers out there that DO make clothing for big dogs, including accessories all the way from dog ties to dog boots (no kidding)

While the fascination for our furry friends just never seems to wear off and manufacturers are raking in the bucks making clothes for the discerning pet lover and big dog, all I can say is that it's not that "ruff" finding dog clothing for your big dog, you just have to look a little harder is all.

They Even Make Costumes for Big Dogs

This last Halloween I had to just about die when I saw the big dog outfit my daughter got for her dog Nala. I honestly did not think there was an outfit BIG enough for her, but lo and behold Nala came home dressed as a unicorn one day. Not only that but she even had a precious little princess rider attached to the costume on her back. Not only was this absolutely adorable but made me realize that clothing for big dogs has definitely come along way (kind of like when they finally caught up with making plus sizes for women, huh?)

In addition to costumes and outfits there are big dog jackets, big dog coats - and even big dog sweaters available for your big dog baby. We usually keep our dogs in the house so they don't need clothes too often - but for dogs that stay outside alot or take walks in the cold, I'd say a big dog coat is definitely a must. I know when I used to walk my chihuahuas, they had to have a little dog sweater on because they would absolutely freeze over when it was cold - poor little things.

Attire for Your Big Dog

Some people might say well that is ridiculous, dogs don't need clothes and I suppose if you want to get technical that's true - but if you were a big dog and it was cold outside wouldn't you want to be warmer? Especially if your owner decided that you looked better with no hair (thanks to the groomer?) I used to be a dog groomer a long long time ago, and there were some pretty big dogs that had to have all their hair shaved off, and believe me, those big dogs actually shivered. How would you like it if someone stripped off all YOUR hair?

If you live in Sunny Cal where I live you might not even need a dog coat for your large dog, but perhaps you just like playing dress up and Fido is the one you like to use as your model. In this case you might not want a dog sweater but maybe just a cute little accessory to compliment your fur-babies natural attire. In this case I would recommend a bow-tie, hat or perhaps even some sunglasses (my dogs actually like sunglasses)

If your big dog is a beachcomber maybe just some shorts or a cute tee would be your idea of a colorful day on the beach....and for Christmas time? Well all stops should be taken out at this time. A red velvet collar with some bells attached should do the trick.

Of course, you could just have your dog go au natural but just how much fun would that be? Big dog pet clothing and accessories for large dogs is just so much more fun!!
