Taking Good Photos of Your Cats
I love taking pictures of my cats and I also love sharing them. Working as an artist for over 30 years, I guess I've just got that "natural knack" for catching my fur babies in cute poses. Since I have lots of animals to choose from in our family (3 cats and 4 dogs), I have been able to capture my feline friends in some very amusing and indiscreet moments during their kitty pursuits.
I would like to share all of my cat images free to anyone here who would like to use them for a website, blog, article or a hub-page. I have also included some information here on obtaining other free cute cat pictures for your web use. Feel free to use these images as screen-savers or whatever else your little heart desires. If you need some tips on taking cat pictures read on and hopefully we can get your kitty on the big screen too. Although I have been blessed with an "eye" for photography, you too can get great pictures of your cats with just a few simple tips...
How to Take Great Cat Pictures
TIP 1:
If you get a great photo of your cat, make sure you save the image to somewhere safe like a folder in your email or a spot like Photobucket or Flickr. Most of my cat pictures here are of brother Zorro and his sister Perdy. Unfortunately due to hard drive crashes over the years I have lost some of my precious photos of cats past. Once gone, those moments cannot be recaptured.
TIP 2:
Have your camera phone or digital camera ready when your cats are visiting. Be set and ready to go because you never know when your feline friend will do something irresistible and deserving of a photo. My cats,, Zorro and Perdy, are just about 2 of the most photogenic cats I have had the pleasure to photograph. Since they seem to be part human sometimes, they do just about the funniest poses imaginable. You cat lovers know what I mean!
TIP 3:
Always be ready to get a cute cat photo. Don't worry about the lighting being exact, the background being perfect, the fur being combed, just capture the moment! All of my cat photos have been taken on normal "everyday" days. I did not "pose them" or set them up to do special things.
TIP 4:
Don't be afraid to take pictures of your cats with your camera phone. Although the resolution is not as good as a digital camera, you will still get decent pictures for sharing. You might not be able to blow it up into a poster but with decent resolution you should be able to get a decent print or screen saver out of it. I used to think that I wasn't doing "real" photography with my camera phone...NOT TRUE! Many camera phones are getting better and better at taking pictures. Don't lose the moment just because you don't have your fancy schmancy digital camera handy. In fact, most of my free cat pictures here were taken on my camera phone .
TIP 5:
You do not have a be a professional photographer to take great cat pictures. When you focus the camera on your cat, focus on the cute part, and if part of it gets cut out so be it. Some of the most beautiful pictures I have taken of my cats were closeups - and I didn't get their whole body in the picture. Just try to focus on the best part, and snap it!
TIP 6:
Don't sweat the lighting too much or you many lose the shot. Many programs like Picasa can help you clean up your images afterwards by adjusting the lighting within the program. I find Picasa very easy to use and have saved many pictures with the editing tools. Some other programs like Photo-bucket have picture editing tools also. If you know Adobe Photo-shop or even elements of it, you can correct many things in your cat images..
