Product Review: The Olympus Stylus 5010 Digital Camera 14 Mega-Pixel

Updated on May 28, 2013

Great little camera

I recently purchased an Olympus Stylus 5010 digital camera for my photography work. I had worked with the Olympus digital cameras in my last job as a baby photographer and had good results - so I thought this would be a good purchase for now. I was not disappointed.

This camera has far exceeded my expectations, and I am getting some marvelous shots of my family, nature and of my favorite place - Shinn Park in Fremont Ca. I was a little worried at the smallness of this point and shoot (I like having something a little substantial in my hands when taking photos) but its small size has actually worked in my favor - as I can slip it right in my pocket and I don't have to worry about even carrying a case now.

The less technical for me the better!

I am not a gadget person, and the less technical, the better off I am. This little camera is really easy to use, very intuitive to learn and the ib software that comes with this camera is worth its weight in gold. With the software I can do all my editing, sharing and organize my photos by event, date, tag or person. It also has facial recognition, so I can easily group photos of subjects that I photograph frequently (my grandson being one of them)

It also has a lithium battery so I can either recharge it with the charger it came with or charge it right into the USB port on my computer. The 14 mega-pixels are clear and crisp and it also has zoom stabilization (just in case you get shaky hands) along with on camera buttons for pre-sets (automatic, scenic, along with many others)

Since a photo is worth a thousand words, below are some examples of some of my favorite photos I have taken with my Olympus Stylus 5010 so far. You can be the judge whether this camera is right for you (and BTW - the price on this hovers around $100 - $130, which is an incredible price given all the wonderful features it has)
