Unidentified Sound Objects - USO's - Strange Noises and Sounds: Eyewitness Accounts

Updated on July 6, 2014

What is the source of these strange sounds?

Source

They come from all walks of life but they all have one thing in common, they are "ear-witnesses" to strange sounds coming from the earth or sky, noises that have been both baffling scientists and making headlines for the last several months.

Some say that the strange sounds are like a hum, others can't quite describe the strange sound, but what they all have in common is that they have all heard noises that can't be explained and are still a source of mystery. "Strange Sounds Coming from Around the World" has garnered so much interest in the last few months that even the query has received numerous hits on Google.

The latest strange sounds have been creating lots of interest in the Seattle, Washington area where even local television stations have broadcast the weird noises. No one seems to be able to narrow down where the sounds are coming from, even after all these months.

Although a few YouTube videos with the "sound" have been verified as hoaxes, there are still hundreds of unexplained "ear-witness" accounts of these Unidentified Strange Sounds (or USO's, as some are calling them)

Of the over 450 comments from my hub, "Strange Sounds and Weird Noises In the Sky - Heard Around the World", that have been posted since the hub was written several months ago, below are "ear-witness" accounts from other writers here at HubPages, credible people who can't explain what the sounds are that they heard.

The Practical Mommy (a writer here at HubPages) "I am a stay at home mother of two--my toddler son and a baby girl. Previous to my stay-at-home state of being, I was a full-time teacher in a middle school setting. Now that I am at home, I like to think of myself as a 'Practical Mommy'. I take great care in finding products for my family that don't break the bank yet stand the test of time and have functionality. Before I buy anything for my family, I conduct research, looking at prices, ratings and reviews, and style."

An "earwitness" account from the Practical Mommy, former school teacher, writer and publisher:

"I might sound crazy, but last week, a day when it was warm and I had the windows open, I heard a sound like an airplane/jet circling my area and diving towards the ground. We do have airports in the area, so at first I thought nothing of it. When the sound kept happening, I went outside to look in the sky to see what it was. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, but the sound kept happening. It was creepy!" Now reading this, I am even more creeped out. I can't believe this was happening all over! Thanks for sharing this with us. I am going to have to do some more research!

More about Jamie Brock: My hobbies are doing arts and crafts, writing on HubPages, searching and reading on the internet, doodling and creating digital art with Photoshop, listening to music, watching movies, reality tv, finding bargains, photography and I love organizing things.

From Jamie Brock, writer and publisher:

"This is very interesting.. thank you for writing about this. I had never heard of it. After reading this though, It made me think of one particular morning last year, I had woken up very early even before the sun was up and I kept hearing outside what I thought was a running semi truck so I finally looked outside and there was no truck yet I could still hear the noise in the distance. It was very weird... I thought to myself it must be some big machine humming off in the distance somewhere.. maybe a refinery or something though I am not aware of anything like that being anywhere here where I live. It was weird too because it was the first time I had ever heard or noticed it."

More about Moonlightened: "I'm an American living in India. I enjoy writing about the surreal abstractions of the mind and the journey within as well as haiku and short stories I am also enjoying my journey into the realm of Indian cooking and culture. I hope to share with you little glimmers here and there as I catch the reflections. "

An "earwitness" account from moonlighted, writer and publisher:

"I'd love to put this off to nothing as "scams" and "trolling," however I can't. I heard this about a week ago and it was a complete shock. The sound comes from everywhere, you can't locate a source. At the time I was completely unnerved. I'm living in India now, and I put it off to some local thing I didn't understand, but honestly the quality of the sound is so strange it's hard to explain. I had no idea this was a common global experience on such a large scale. It vibrated the apartment."

From Scribenets bio: "Science, Nature, History, Pets, Plants, Flowers, Emotional Health and Humor are what I enjoy reading, researching and writing about. Once in awhile I feel compelled to make a commentary or two about issues I feel strongly about!"

Scribenet, writer and publisher, her account:

"I have heard a type of "hum" since I was a child...I used to pass it off as a distant local train...whenever I became aware of it. As an adult, I have heard it in various locations and attributed to idling vehicles, air conditioning hum, my own blood pressure etc. etc. I have asked friends and not one hears it, so I assumed it has to be a lower frequency; it doesn't sound high pitched. I just ignored it as something natural or man-made from machinery etc."

More about Leslie: Account Executive with Procter and Gamble Texas Market. Live just North of Dallas in Aubrey, TX. Married to my soul-mate with two daughters and two wonderful grand-children. Christian and political conservative. Love music and films, eating at great restaurants and being with my family.

An account by Leslie, account executive and writer at HubPages:

"I was in my bedroom in Aubrey, Texas just North of Dallas, getting dressed about 11:00 on Monday morning 12/12/11 when I heard a the strangest sound. It was very loud and can only be described as a low trumpet-bassoon type of sound combined with a sort of metal like scraping sound....very low and deep tone but very loud! I immediately thought, what the crap is that and ran to the front door to see if there was anything that could have made the sound and there was nothing. It was very unusual and I have never heard anything like it before!!!!"

And Leslie also added: " I live just north of Dallas in Aubrey, TX and I can assure you that I have never been on a chat site or commented on anything on the internet. I am very logical and level headed, as is my husband. We are skeptical of things and do not easily get excited about such things......but, with that said......I DID hear the sound on December 12th. I only heard it once, but it was extremely loud and very distinctive. I am a professional business person, as is my husband, but he and I both have had a few "very interesting" things happen in the past year that are unexplainable. He has not heard the strange sound, but total believes me, as does my family, since they know how level headed I am. It was actually very startling and I searched all day for something to attribute it to. There was nothing! It did sound like it was coming from the sky, but also sounded very close and loud. I have not heard it since, but will instantly recognize it, if I do hear it. Loud, low trumpet, bassoon type of sound with a sort of metallic sound mixed in with it. I don't know what it is, but have being doing research on this ever since I heard it. It definitely got my attention."

Anna (Global Chicas) Bio: My name is Anna and I am a New Yorker who has found herself living in Lisboa, the charming capital of Portugal. I'm pursuing a Masters in International Management and writing a thesis in an area I'm very passionate about - Corporate Sustainability.

Professionally, I worked as a management consultant for about four years and am now on a leave of absence until I finish my thesis. When I was in HS, I studied journalism and wanted to be an anchor woman but instead went on to business school and earned a BS in Marketing from a university in Manhattan.

An account by Anna, management executive, traveler and writer:

"This is so freaky! One evening before Christmas (I think it was the 23rd of Dec) I was cooking in the kitchen and went to open the window when I heard a strange humming sound. I then opened the window fully and stuck my head out the window and was shocked by this humming, metallic machinery kind of sound coming from what sounds like the sky! I called my boyfriend over and we both couldn't figure out the noise. We closed the windows back up and can't hear it that way. I didn't know others heave heard a strange humming sound! I wonder if what we heard is related to this hub? I'm in Lisbon, Portugal."
