Photos and Images from a Beautiful Rose Garden in California Part 1
Taking a stroll through a rose garden....
I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of growing roses but I am an avid fan of viewing someone else's rose garden. One of the prettiest rose gardens around is at the Shinn Historical House and Gardens located in Fremont California. One of the treats I always enjoy when going there is taking a walk through the rose garden just before you enter the park. There are a huge variety of roses, many of them in various stages of bloom throughout the year. Because we live in such a Mediterranean climate here in California, is it not uncommon even to see some roses still blooming in December. I have taken photos of some of the beautiful roses located in Shinn Park. Although I don't know all their names I do know that some of them are very old varieties.

My mother was allergic to roses!
Because my mother was allergic to roses, they were never seen in our house growing up. In fact, it was not uncommon for my mother to call me to come pick up a bouquet that someone had given her. I always marveled at their beautiful colors and was intrigued by the different scents that roses had. One of the things I like doing at Shinn Park is stopping to "smell" the roses, sometimes one by one. At Shinn Park there are also roses in the main gardens surrounding the house, and I have also included some of those in my photo gallery here. Being a newborn baby photographer by trade, roses are another subject that I love taking photos of. I love color - so the blends of yellows, oranges and reds always amaze me. I also like to take my rose photos and add special effects to them. You can see some of these digitally altered photos at my hub here: A Rose is a Rose is a Rose. Or is it?
The photos in this hub are all original and there are no edits or special effects added. For the purpose of this series I felt these photos stand alone on their own. For part 2 of this series you can also visit my hub here: The Rose Garden at Shinn Historical Park: Part 2
I hope you enjoyed your tour through the rose garden at Shinn Park.
